Dr. Gavin Lawson, Associate Professor of Biology
Dr. Gavin R. Lawson, assistant professor. Dr. Lawson assumed his duties in fall of 1997, and is Chairman of the Department. He obtained a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Illinois, Urbana where he conducted research on the evolution of the jaw apparatus in pythons. Additionally, he has both a B.S. and M.S. in Geology from the University of Illinois, Urbana and University of Arizona, Tucson, respectively. Dr. Lawson teaches courses in human anatomy and physiology, comparative anatomy and physiology, and histology. His current research interests are on the evolution of the jaw apparatus in boid snakes, mtDNA haplotype diversity among marbled salamanders, and the evolution of acetylcholine receptors in vertebrates. |
