Faculty


Dr. Erich E. Brumbaugh teaches General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry, and supervises the advanced projects courses. He was an undergraduate at Bridgewater College (1962-1966) and received a PhD in Biophysics from The University of Virginia in 1971. From 1972- 1986 Dr. Brumbaugh was a member of the faculty at the University of North Florida, and has been at Bridgewater since 1986.
Dr. Joseph M. Crockett was an undergraduate at Hampden-Sydney College (graduating in 1973) and was awarded a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of North Carolina in 1979. He taught chemistry at Tulane University and at Baker University before joining the Bridgewater faculty in 1985. He teaches General, Organic and Biochemistry, and supervises the introductory and organic laboratories.
Dr. Ellen M. Mitchell graduated from Kenyon College with Honors in Chemistry and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1996 she completed her doctoral studies at Ohio State University with a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry. Dr. Mitchell joined the faculty at Bridgewater in 1996, and teaches General and Inorganic Chemistry.
Dr. Kenneth S. Overway attended Hope College (1989-1993) as an undergraduate and received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Purdue University in 1997 under the tutelage of Dr. Fred E Lytle. He taught chemistry at Hope College (1999-2001), Austin Peay State University (2001-2002), Bates College (2002-2003), and joined the faculty at Bridgewater College in 2003. He teaches General Chemistry and Analytical courses.
