The Communication Studies Department was
created in 2000 and has grown leaps and bounds over the years. Presenting
information that is diverse yet applicable in everyday situations is
just a small portion of what you will find in this department.
The objective of the Communication Studies major is to provide students with a critical understanding of the nature, scope, and function of communication. Courses are designed to examine the practical and theoretical perspectives, historical developments, policy implications, and the expanding role that communication and the mass media play in the 21st century.
A degree in Communication
Studies can lead to careers in fields such as education, journalism, law, public relations,
as well as theatre production and direction.
The Communication Studies department is located in Memorial Hall. Built in 1890, Memorial Hall is the oldest building on campus.
