Music

Bridgewater College Music Department PhotoThe department of music is housed in the Carter Center for Worship and Music. The building includes a recital/concert hall, all music faculty offices, classrooms, rehearsal facilities for large ensembles and 10 large student/small ensemble practice rooms, some with computer interactive and adjustable acoustical environments.

Organists will find ample practice time on one of the college's three pipe organs and one Allen Renaissance Organ.

Students from all majors are invited to participate in one or more of the choral, instrumental or chamber ensembles, and private study is available to singers and players.

Students who choose music as a career may focus on performance and/or elect to gain certification to teach vocal or instrumental music in the public schools. A special concentration in church music is offered and supported by the College's strong choral tradition and rehearsal and performance facilities for organists. Internships in music and music-related fields can be arranged for those with special interests.
