Professor Richard Adams

Richard Adams, Instructor in Music, has a Bachelor of Music Education and Masters of Education Degrees from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. He has been instructor of guitar at Bridgewater College since 1993 and Blue Ridge Community College since 1999. He served as elementary and high school Band Director and School Counselor from 1981 - 1992 in Augusta County, VA.

Mr. Adams currently owns Happy Healthy Kid Songs. This company produces and markets music cassettes, c.d.'s, videos and school programs that encourage children to lead healthier lifestyles. He also writes, performs and produces radio jingles in the HHKS recording studio and is a producer/recording engineer for many solo and group projects.

Professor Adams freelances as a trumpet, saxophone, bass and guitar player throughout Western Virginia in both classical, pop/rock and jazz venues. He also is a member of the "Augusta Guitar Ensemble", "Wanda and the White Boys", "Joyful Noise" and the "Boogie Kings". He has performed in Brazil, Virgin Islands and Ireland.

Mr. Adams has been a member of the Music Educators National Conference, National Association of Jazz Educators and the Central Valley Counselor's Association where he served as President. He is currently a member of the Staunton/Augusta Rotary Club serving as International Committee Chair and is a volunteer at the regional children's hospice camp.
