Student Organizations

Music Educators National Conference
M.E.N.C. stands for Music Educators' National Conference. It is a national organization of musical professionals. In order to have their students participate in things such as district band and district choir events, music directors in schools must be members in good standing of the national M.E.N.C. organization.

As a college with an approved music education-licensing program, Bridgewater College is capable of having a collegiate chapter of M.E.N.C.

Though we are a small organization, the BC M.E.N.C. provides members with opportunities to enhance their education, fulfill PDP hours, and to have some fun as well. Please contact us if you want to know more.

For more information on the national M.E.N.C. organization, visit their website: www.menc.org. The site includes job information, numerous resources and a special collegiate section.

Our chapter of M.E.N.C. sponsors events such as Orff workshops, music technology workshops, trips to V.M.E.A conventions, "Elementary School Day" when teachers from local schools teach lessons and then explain how they plan lessons and the methods they use, activities for "Music in Our Schools" month, and mock interviews.

BC Pep Band

This student led group plays highly spirited music to motivate the crowd and cheerleaders at basketball and home football games. Students select the music, organize rehearsals and create an annual policy. Currently an ensemble of about 25 students, all student players are invited to join. The emphasis is on having fun.
