Many colleges will tell you how innovative they are, but then fail to prove it. At Bridgewater, we wrote the book on innovation, starting with our distinctive Personal Development Portfolio (PDP) Program. The PDP Program helps you become completely and holistically educated. The program helps you develop in the areas of citizenship and community responsibility, intellectual growth and discovery, emotional maturation and physical health, and ethical and spiritual growth. It's considered so innovative that it's won national acclaim and has served as a model for programs at other institutions.
The PDP Program is only the beginning of innovation at Bridgewater. There's also our:
Honors Program
Challenge your thinking in small classes intended to spark engaging dialogue among faculty and students. Designed for outstanding students, the Honors program offers you more accountability for your own education, close interaction with faculty, and special opportunities to work on independent study or research projects.
Honors Projects
Delve deep into a subject that's captivated your mind, either through examination of relevant literature or experimentation, or both, and then present your findings in a paper or presentation.
Internships
Gain practical experience in your field of interest, while applying theory to solve real-world problems, networking with professionals, and learning how companies operate.
Interterm and Travel
Immerse yourself in another culture for a semester or a year of study at such locations as Cuba, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Wales, and many more. Your expanded worldview will serve you well in an increasingly global marketplace.
Service Learning
Complete a service learning component as part of your PDP and help solve problems of communities in need. We offer a service learning center and many other resources to help you find organizations in need of assistance, and your advisor can help you find an opportunity that matches your interests and academic pursuits. Students are required to complete 10 hours of service learning each year as part of PDP.
Writing Center
Sharpen your own skills in writing by helping fellow students with their writing concerns as a peer tutor (known as a writing consultant) at our Writing Center.
Convocations
Expand your mind through lectures, films, art, drama, and music events held each semester on campus. Designed to enrich the liberal arts program, convocations are intended to show the connections across academic disciplines.
