The most basic requirement is that you must complete a minimum of 120 hours.
| 2 |
If
you must be late or miss a day of your internship, let your site
supervisor know. Remember, you are considered an employee of the
sponsoring firm, no matter how short your stay there will be, and you
are expected to be punctual and regular in attendance.
| 3 |
Remember that you represent Bridgewater College and yourself. Your chance
for a job offer and our opportunities to place future interns depend on how
you conduct yourself.
| 4 |
Everything that happens at your internship site is confidential. People have
a right to their privacy and businesses to their trade secrets.
| 5 |
You are considered a staff member and should dress as such. Observe what
others wear and dress appropriately. If in doubt, be conservative.
| 6 |
The Director of Internships will contact your agency sponsor at the
beginning of the internship, at mid-term, and at the end. Your agency
supervisor is asked to evaluate your work at mid-term and the end of the term
(only at the end for internships in Interterm and Summer Session I.)
| 7 |
Journals
are to be submitted to the Director of Internships by the due dates.
Weekly journals are kept except for Interterm and Summer Session I when daily journals
are kept. |
| 8 |
Your final report is due near the end of the internship. It must be typed
and grammatically correct. Submit this report to the Director of Internships.
| 9 |
It is important to stay in contact with your sponsoring professor during
your internship.
| 10 |
If you feel you have done a good job, it is perfectly appropriate to ask
your supervisor for a letter of reference. The supervisor may either give you
the letter, which you may carry with you to interviews, or he may send it
directly to Sherry Talbott, Director of Internships, Box 35, Bridgewater
College. This assures that the letter will be confidential.

You should write to your sponsor within a few days of completing the
internship, thanking him for the time and attention he gave you. Be certain to
include appreciation for any special kindness shown you, such as being treated
to lunch.

If you are having any problems, please contact your sponsoring professor and
the Director of Internships. If you see that you will be unable to complete
your required hours, DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE END, TALK WITH THEM IMMEDIATELY.
