Leading the way and making giant strides, junior, Amber Stewart is making a difference on campus and in her community. And, she plans to do it for years to come. Amber hopes to make a difference in the world by serving as a positive example for all those she encounters - young and old. "I hope that by continuing to be motivated and hardworking I can show others that you can achieve anything, within reason," Amber says. "I also hope to impact the lives of others by becoming involved in my community as a coach with youth."

As a nutrition and wellness major from Maryland, Amber is taking her unique classroom experiences home with her. Each summer, Amber volunteers with the Special Olympics of Maryland. She shares her day with the Olympics setting up the events, escorting participants, and refereeing. Most importantly, she encourages everyone to play hard and enjoy themselves. "My service for the Special Olympics helps the participants gain an appreciation for sports, "says Amber, "and I ensure them that they can showcase their talents while having a great time."

Amber also shares her love of wellness with the local retirement community. "My experience at the retirement community helps bridge the gap between older and younger generations," Amber says. She believes that by gifting her time, she can be a positive representation of her generation. Amber has volunteered with helping at open houses, making cards for the residents, and helping plan a 5k walk/run.

"At Bridgewater you do not have to choose between having a great academic career or a great social life - you can have both," Amber says. She feels the various social and academic programs offered by Bridgewater prepare her for her personal and professional life. Campus clubs and organizations have provided her the opportunity to get involved and make an impact. Amber believes the liberal arts curriculum at Bridgewater provides her with a well-rounded education. "Within the clubs and organizations I am involved, I have the opportunity to interact with an assortment of personalities and take leadership positions."

She's taking the opportunities and running with them. Not afraid of challenges, Amber is looking ahead, embracing the role she plays in the future of young lives. "Keeping kids on the right track to becoming productive citizens in society will make a world of difference in a child's life, "Amber says, "and it will ultimately make a difference in the world."
