Area Attractions As much as there is to do on the Bridgewater College campus, there are endless recreational and entertainment possibilities nearby.

Harrisonburg:
Bridgewater College is located only seven miles southeast of Harrisonburg, a vibrant city that serves as the financial and retail center for eight counties.Here you'll find outstanding shopping, restaurants, theaters, and specialty stores.

Rockingham County:
More than 139,000 acres of George Washington National Forest are in western Rockingham County, bordered on the east by Shenandoah National Park. Bridgewater College students visit the area for hiking, fishing, biking, and horseback riding. The park is also home to Skyline Drive, a 105 mile stretch of beautiful scenery along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Bridgewater:
The area has a number of fascinating and historical caverns to explore, including Shenandoah Caverns, featured in an issue of National Geographic, Endless Caverns, which haven't been fully explored even today, and Grand Caverns, once visited by Thomas Jefferson.

Natural Chimneys are just southwest of Bridgewater, and feature fantastic rock formations that resemble a castle. The site is home of the oldest continuously held jousting tournament in America.

For year-round fun, Massanutten Resort is ideal. During the summer you can golf, fish, swim, bike, ride horses, and enjoy the areas best mountain biking trails. In the winter, the skiing is unbeatable.

A Short Drive:
Within only a few hours' drive are the cities of Charlottesville, Roanoke, and Richmond, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
