Yes, there is still time to make reservations for Homecoming 2006! Refer to your brochure or go to www.bridgewater.edu and click on the Homecoming 2006 link on the front page to get the full schedule. Plan to spend the whole weekend here! Come to reconnect, and come for the fun!

LEARN ABOUT SCRAPBOOKING
Do you have precious or sentimental items you'd like to preserve? Come to the alumni workshop on scrapbooking at 9:30 a.m. on Homecoming Day, Saturday, Sept. 30, in the Alexander Mack Memorial Library. A team of experts will demonstrate the techniques, and help you get started with the items you bring. And you'll still be able to get to the parade, the tailgating and the reunion luncheons.

DEPARTMENT CHAIRS NAMED
Three academic departments have new chairs as the fall semester begins. Dr. Melanie K. Laliker, associate professor of communication studies, is now chair of the Department of Communication Studies. Barbara H. Long, assistant professor of health and exercise science, is chair of the Health and Exercise Science Department. Dr. Brian M. Kelley, associate professor of psychology, has been named chair of the Psychology Department.

In addition, Dr. Jeffrey H. Pierson, professor of communication studies and director of convocations, has been named director of the College's honors program.

COACH HEISHMAN TOPS 600
Dr. Mary Frances Heishman, professor of exercise science and coach of the volleyball team, posted her 600th match victory last week. Since then, the team has added two more wins to the total. Coach Heishman began the volleyball program here in 1975 and has had 21 consecutive winning seasons, including 17 seasons of 20 or more wins.

FOOTBALL EAGLES IN TOP 10
The BC football team, after a thrilling 30-27 overtime victory Saturday at Ferrum, is ranked No. 8 in the country by d3football.com and No. 7 by the Football Gazette.

Tony Burt, senior defensive lineman from Chesapeake, Craig Smith, senior linebacker from Virginia Beach, and the entire offensive line have been named to the National Team of the Week by d3football.com already this season, and Desmond Jalloh, a junior defensive back from Roanoke, was this week's defensive Player of the Week in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Keep up with the Eagles at http://www.bridgewater.edu/football and at http://www.bridgewaterfootball.com/.
