August 2006
Volume VI, Issue 11
The campus is beginning to regain its college character. Some of the students have returned; the faculty is meeting; the parking lots are a little fuller. We anticipate a fall enrollment of just over 1,500 full-time students, including 415-420 freshmen and about 60 transfers. It will be great to hear the music ensembles rehearsing, to dodge the Frisbees and balls flying across the mall and to join in the welcome-back hugging. Summer must be over!
WELCOME, NEW FACULTY
Nine full-time faculty members are joining the Bridgewater College teaching staff this fall. Click here to get acquainted with them.
CAMPUS MOURNS DR. LOGAN

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Staunton, Va.

EAGLES WE-HAUL - THIS SATURDAY
Join the fun of welcoming the Class of 2010 and help them move into the residence halls this Saturday, as part of our annual Eagles We-Haul celebration. We'll gather in front of Bowman Hall at 8 a.m. to get assignments, T-shirts and lunch tickets, then spread out across the campus to unload vehicles and carry all that stuff to the students' rooms. The first 50 volunteers get We-Haul T-shirts; everyone who helps receives a ticket for lunch with the new students and their families. For planning purposes, please contact the Alumni Relations Office at 540-828-5451 or shottel@bridgewater.edu to confirm your participation. It's a great way to connect with the newest BC alumni!
YES, WE HAVE BUSES!
The Alumni Office has reserved a bus for each of the away football games this fall. Join us! It's more fun to travel with a group of fans, and you won't need to worry about driving in traffic or the price of gasoline. Make your reservation no later than noon on the Monday before each game by calling 540-828-5451 or by email at shottel@bridgewater.edu. We need a minimum of 30 people for each trip; if we fail to make the minimum, we will notify you by the close of business (4:30 p.m.) on the Tuesday before the game. Plan to take a lunch; we'll make a dinner stop on the way back.
The schedule is as follows:
Sept. 2 - McDaniel - Leave BC at 8 a.m.; arrive back at approximately 9 p.m. Cost: $35 a person.
Sept. 16 - Ferrum - Leave BC at 9:30 a.m.; arrive back at approximately 8:30 p.m. (Game time is 1:30 p.m.) Cost: $35 a person.

Complimentary child care and a meal will be available for small children. A letter of invitation, giving more details, is being mailed to each class member.
