The 1880 Society was inspired by the ideals of Daniel Flory, who founded Bridgewater College 127 years ago by offering a "hearty welcome to all seeking knowledge." Back then, tuition was $3.00 per month and board was $10.00. Wouldn't it be wonderful if that were the case today?
Significant resources are necessary to provide the excellent liberal arts education for which Bridgewater College is known. To ensure that Bridgewater continues to offer that "hearty welcome" to all who wish to attend, we need to provide scholarships for qualified students.
The 1880 Society was created to proudly recognize donors who give $1,000 or more each year to any area of the College. Donors who give at the Leadership Circle level ($2,500+) or higher also have the opportunity to directly sponsor a deserving student for the current year with a named scholarship. Legacy Circle and President's Circle members can also start or add to an endowed named scholarship.
"Individual leadership giving to the Bridgewater Fund is increasingly important as we enter the final phase of the Every Student, One Commitment Campaign for Bridgewater College," says 1880 Society Chairman, Erik Kloster, '83.
