  • BC ranked No. 5 in South/Southeast region poll - 08/27/2008

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College men’s cross country team is ranked fifth in the South/Southeast Region preseason poll released Wednesday by the United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association.

    The Eagles return senior standouts Nate Rittenhouse and Brandon Spalding to lead the way during the 2008 season. Both runners were first-team All-ODAC performers a year ago. In 2007, the Eagles finished sixth at the South/Southeast Region meet.

    Earlier this week, the Eagles were picked to finish third in the ODAC behind Washington & Lee and Lynchburg. W&L is ranked just ahead of the Eagles in the regional poll in fourth while Lynchburg ranks eighth.

    University of Texas-Tyler is ranked No. 1 in the South/Southeast region poll, followed by Emory and Mary Washington. W&L and BC come next following by Centre, Rhodes and Lynchburg. Trinity and McMurry round out the Top 10.
  • Men tabbed third in ODAC cross country poll - 08/26/2008

  • xclogoBridgewater College was picked to finish third in the ODAC men’s cross country preseason coaches’ poll released Tuesday.

    The Eagles, with returning All-ODAC runners Nathan Rittenhouse and Brandon Spalding, finished second at the ODAC meet a year ago. The Eagles received one first-place vote in this year’s poll.

    Washington and Lee University earned seven first place votes in the poll, topping the annual survey with 95 total poll points. Lynchburg College came away with two top billings and 83 total points.

    Rounding out the poll were Roanoke in fourth, followed by Virginia Wesleyan, Guilford, Hampden-Sydney, Emory & Henry, Eastern Mennonite and Randolph.
  • BC men place sixth at South/Southeast regional meet - 11/10/2007

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College men’s cross country team turned in a strong effort Saturday at the South/Southeast Region meet hosted by Christopher Newport University at the Eastern State Hospital course in Williamsburg as the Eagles finished sixth out of 21 teams.

    Brandon Spalding led the Bridgewater runners with an 18th-place finish in a time of 26:47. Mawut Deng placed 21st, 10 seconds behind Spalding.

    The Bridgewater women’s team placed 17th out of 28 teams. Brittany Wells paced the BC runners with a 45th-place finish in a time of 25:26. [South/Southeast Region Results page]
  • Eagles prepare for regional meet - 11/08/2007

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College cross country teams will compete Saturday at the South/Southeast Region meet hosted by Christopher Newport University.

    The meets will be run at the Eastern State Hospital course in Williamsburg.

  • Men finish second at ODAC meet - 10/27/2007

  • fhlogoThe Bridgewater College men's cross country team placed second at the ODAC Championship meet held Saturday at Washington & Lee.

    The Eagles placed all five its counters in the Top 15 to finish with 43 points. W&L won the meet with 38 points. Nathan Rittenhouse led the Eagles with a fourth-place finish in a time of 28:15.97. He was followed by Brandon Spalding in fifth place with a time of 28:21.23. Mawut Deng placed eighth at 29:11.20 and Stanley Peyton was 11th at 29:22.58. Jacob Griffith rounded out the Eagles scoring with a time of 29:41.22 to place 15th.

    Rittenhouse and Spalding earned first-team All-ODAC honors while Deng and Peyton earned spots on the second team.

    Lynchburg's Ricky Flynn won the race with a time of 27:23.18 and was named the ODAC Runner of the Year.

    Roanoke's Ian Robinson was named ODAC Rookie of the Year and W&L's Tim Brower was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year. W&L's John Tucker was named the Coach of the Year. [Championship Website].
