  • Eagles place 12th at South/Southeast Region meet - 11/15/2008

  • Rittenhouse & SpaldingThe Bridgewater College men's cross country team finished 12th Saturday at the South/Southeast Region Meet hosted by Texas Lutheran.

    Nathan Rittenhouse was the top finisher for the BC men, placing 21st with a time of 26:32. Brandon Spalding finished 26th with a time of 26:41 and Jordan White placed 67th with a time of 27:46. [Men's Results]

  • Rittenhouse & SpaldingThe Bridgewater men placed fourth at the ODAC Cross Country Championship Meet hosted Saturday at Virginia Wesleyan College.

    Lynchburg won the men's meet, followed by Virginia Wesleyan, Washington and Lee, and Bridgewater.

    Nathan Rittenhouse paced the Eagles with a second-place finish in a time of 25:28.10. Brandon Spalding followed close behind in fourth place with a time of 25:34.20. Both were named to the All-ODAC first team.

  • Eagles place ninth at Gettysburg - 10/18/2008

  • Rittenhouse & SpaldingBridgewater College placed ninth in a strong field of 19 teams Saturday at the Gettsyburg Invitational.

    Seniors Nathan Rittenhouse and Brandon Spalding turned in strong runs for the Eagles. Rittenhouse placed fifth overall out of 270 runners with a time of 25:54.7. Spalding was right behind in sixth place with a time of 26:01.07.

    Jordan White was the third Eagles across the line placed 52nd overall. [Men's Results]

  • Rittenhouse & SpaldingThe Bridgewater College men's cross country team is ranked No. 10 in this week's Division III South/Southeast region poll conducted by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.

    The Eagles were idle this past week. BC will run Saturday at the Gettysburg Invitational.

    This past Saturday, the Eagles won the Hagan Stone Classic in Greensboro, N.C.

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College men's cross country team won the 10-team Hagan Stone Classic meet Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.

    Brandon Spalding finished second among Division II/III runners with a time of 26:41.3. He was followed by Nathan Rittenhouse in fourth, Jordan White in fifth, Jake Griffin in ninth and Jamie Doyle in 14th.

  • Rittenhouse & SpaldingThe Bridgewater College men's cross country team is ranked No. 8 in this week's Division III South/Southeast region poll conducted by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.

    The Eagles are one of four ODAC teams ranked in the poll. Lynchburg is No. 4, Washington and Lee is No. 7 and Roanoke is ranked No. 10.

    The Eagles are coming off a victorious weekend at the Roanoke Invitational where BC swept the top three places to run away with the team title.

  • Nathan RittenhouseBridgewater College senior Nathan Rittenhouse has been named the ODAC Cross Country Runner of the Week by the conference office.

    Rittenhouse placed first overall this past Saturday at the Roanoke College Invitational with a time of 25:52.52 - a personal best over an 8K course for the BC senior. Rittenhouse led a 1-2-3 Bridgewater finish at the meet as the Eagles ran away with the team title.

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College men's cross country won the Roanoke College Invitational meet Saturday. The Eagles swept the top three spots in the meet to run away with the title..

    Nathan Rittenhouse placed first overall with a time of 25:52.52 - a personal best over an 8K course for the BC senior.

    Brandon Spalding placed second with a time of 26:07.67 and Jordan White crossed the line in third with a time of 26:55.56.

    Jake Griffin placed 11th in 28:06.08 and Jamie Doyle placed 16th with a time of 28:41.70 to round out the BC scoring.

  • distanceBridgewater College senior Brandon Spalding has been named the ODAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second consecutive week.

    Spalding finished 11th overall at the JMU Invitational to pace the Eagles with a time of 26:37.70. Spaldng was the second Division III runner to finish. His effort helped lead the Eagles to a fourth-place team finish.

  • distanceThe Bridgewater College men's cross country team placed fourth at the JMU Invitational at New Market Battlefield.

    Brandon Spalding finished 11th to pace the Eagles with a time of 26:37.70. Nathan Rittenhouse finished right behind Spalding in 12th place with a time of 26:40.10.

    Division I teams Georgetown and George Mason finished 1-2 with Mary Washington finishing just ahead of the Eagles.

  • distanceBridgewater College senior Brandon Spalding has been named the ODAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week by the conference office.

    Spalding opened his season in impressive fashion by winning the Virginia Wesleyan Marlin Invitational. Spalding placed first overall with a time of 27:19.2, 30 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

  • xclogoBridgewater College senior Brandon Spalding took top individual honors Saturday at the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins Cross Country Invitational.

    Spalding placed first overall with a time of 27:19.2, 30 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. BC's Jordan White was next in line for the Eagles, finishing 11th overall with a time of 28:25.11.

    The Eagles finished fourth in the team standings, despite running without two of their top runners - Nathan Rittenhouse and Jacob Griffin.

  • BC ranked No. 5 in South/Southeast region poll - 08/27/2008

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College men’s cross country team is ranked fifth in the South/Southeast Region preseason poll released Wednesday by the United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association.

    The Eagles return senior standouts Nate Rittenhouse and Brandon Spalding to lead the way during the 2008 season. Both runners were first-team All-ODAC performers a year ago. In 2007, the Eagles finished sixth at the South/Southeast Region meet.

    Earlier this week, the Eagles were picked to finish third in the ODAC behind Washington & Lee and Lynchburg. W&L is ranked just ahead of the Eagles in the regional poll in fourth while Lynchburg ranks eighth.

    University of Texas-Tyler is ranked No. 1 in the South/Southeast region poll, followed by Emory and Mary Washington. W&L and BC come next following by Centre, Rhodes and Lynchburg. Trinity and McMurry round out the Top 10.
  • Men tabbed third in ODAC cross country poll - 08/26/2008

  • xclogoBridgewater College was picked to finish third in the ODAC men’s cross country preseason coaches’ poll released Tuesday.

    The Eagles, with returning All-ODAC runners Nathan Rittenhouse and Brandon Spalding, finished second at the ODAC meet a year ago. The Eagles received one first-place vote in this year’s poll.

    Washington and Lee University earned seven first place votes in the poll, topping the annual survey with 95 total poll points. Lynchburg College came away with two top billings and 83 total points.

    Rounding out the poll were Roanoke in fourth, followed by Virginia Wesleyan, Guilford, Hampden-Sydney, Emory & Henry, Eastern Mennonite and Randolph.
  • BC men place sixth at South/Southeast regional meet - 11/10/2007

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College men’s cross country team turned in a strong effort Saturday at the South/Southeast Region meet hosted by Christopher Newport University at the Eastern State Hospital course in Williamsburg as the Eagles finished sixth out of 21 teams.

    Brandon Spalding led the Bridgewater runners with an 18th-place finish in a time of 26:47. Mawut Deng placed 21st, 10 seconds behind Spalding.

    The Bridgewater women’s team placed 17th out of 28 teams. Brittany Wells paced the BC runners with a 45th-place finish in a time of 25:26. [South/Southeast Region Results page]

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College cross country teams will compete Saturday at the South/Southeast Region meet hosted by Christopher Newport University.

    The meets will be run at the Eastern State Hospital course in Williamsburg.

  • Men finish second at ODAC meet - 10/27/2007

  • fhlogoThe Bridgewater College men's cross country team placed second at the ODAC Championship meet held Saturday at Washington & Lee.

    The Eagles placed all five its counters in the Top 15 to finish with 43 points. W&L won the meet with 38 points. Nathan Rittenhouse led the Eagles with a fourth-place finish in a time of 28:15.97. He was followed by Brandon Spalding in fifth place with a time of 28:21.23. Mawut Deng placed eighth at 29:11.20 and Stanley Peyton was 11th at 29:22.58. Jacob Griffith rounded out the Eagles scoring with a time of 29:41.22 to place 15th.

    Rittenhouse and Spalding earned first-team All-ODAC honors while Deng and Peyton earned spots on the second team.

    Lynchburg's Ricky Flynn won the race with a time of 27:23.18 and was named the ODAC Runner of the Year.

    Roanoke's Ian Robinson was named ODAC Rookie of the Year and W&L's Tim Brower was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year. W&L's John Tucker was named the Coach of the Year. [Championship Website].
  • ODAC Championships set for Saturday - 10/24/2007

  • The ODAC men's cross country championship meet will be hosted Saturday by Washington & Lee University.

    The men's race will begin at noon.

    The Bridgewater men, who finished second in last year's meet, are expected to compete for the team title along with Lynchburg and W&L. The men are led by Nathan Rittenhouse and Brandon Spalding. Rittenhouse has the top 8K time in the ODAC this season.

  • Rittenhouse paces BC at Tribe Open - 10/14/2007

  • xclogoBridgewater College junior Nathan Rittenhouse paced the Eagles at the Tribe Open hosted Saturday by William & Mary.

    Rittenhouse finished with a time of 26:01 to place 21st overall out of 138 runners. He was the second Division III runner to finish.

    Brandon Spalding also had a strong run for the Eagles as he finished 32nd with a time of 26:29.

    Brittany Wells paced the Eagles' women with a time of 24:35.5 to place 39th overall.

  • Nathan RittenhouseBridgewater College's Nathan Rittenhouse has been named the ODAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

    Rittenhouse led the Eagles to the team title at the State College Division Meet in Penn Laird by winning the meet's individual title for the second straight year. Rittenhouse finished the event in a time of 27:46.

  • nathanBridgewater placed six runners in the Top 12 Saturday to win the men's division at the State College Division Cross Country meet held at the Peaks Course in Penn Laird.

    Bridgewater's Nathan Rittenhouse won the individual title with a time of 27:46 - the second straight year he has finished first at the state meet.

    Joining Rittenhouse on the all-state first team were Brandon Spalding in second place, Jacob Griffin in fifth and Stanley Peyton in sixth place. Earning second-team honors were Steven Hall with a 10th-place finish and Ben Allen with his 12th-place effort.

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College men's team placed second and the women finished fourth at Saturday's Maroon Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.

    Brittany Wells paced the women as she finished fourth overall. Stanley Peyton led the men's team with a third-place finish.
  • Rittenhouse places 15th at New York Invitational - 09/15/2007

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater men's cross country team placed 13th out of 23 teams Saturday at the New York Invitational.

    Natham Rittenhouse paced the Bridgewater effort as he placed 15th out of 238 runners with a time of 26:58.

    Teammate Brandon Spalding also turned in a strong run as he placed 21st with a time of 27:09.02

    The Bridgewater women finished in 20th place out of 22 teams. Brittany Wells ran a strong race and finished 32nd overall with a time of 21:08. [Results]

  • xclogoThe Bridgewater College men’s cross country team placed third out of seven teams Saturday at the W&L Invitational while the women finished sixth out of 12 teams.

    Washington & Lee won the men’s meet and Roanoke College finished second.

    Nathan Rittenhouse and Brandon Spalding turned in solid individual efforts, finishing the meet in second and third place. Rittenhouse placed second with a time of 29:18 just one second ahead of Spalding.

  • Men second in preseason poll - 08/27/2007

  • ODAC logoThe Bridgewater College men’s cross country team was picked second in the ODAC Preseason Coaches poll released Monday.

    The Washington & Lee men’s team received eight first-place votes and was picked to win their fourth consecutive title. Bridgewater received the remaining two first-place votes.

    W&L returns three runners who received first-team All-ODAC honors and one runner who earned second-team honors.

    The Eagles expect to challenge the Generals with their own quartet of experienced runners. Brandon Spalding and Nathan Rittenhouse are back after earning first-team All-ODAC honors last year. Stanley Peyton, a second-team All-ODAC pick, also returns along with Mawut Deng. Deng earned All-South/Southeast Region honors a year ago.

    Following the top two in the poll are Lynchburg, Roanoke, Virginia Wesleyan, Guilford, Hampden-Sydney, Eastern Mennonite, Emory & Henry and Randolph.

  • Bridgewater College sophomore Brandon Spalding placed 188th out of 279 runners Saturday at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship meet hosted by Wilmington College. Spalding finished the course with a time of 29:29.
  • Three BC runners earn All-Region honors - 12/04/2006

  • The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the eight NCAA Division III All-Region Teams this week and three runners from the Bridgewater College men’s team were selected. To be considered, athletes had to finish in the top 30 at their respective regional meets. Bridgewater’s Brandon Spalding, Mawut Deng and Nathan Rittenhouse were named to the All-South/Southeast regional team. Spalding placed fifth in the regional meet and qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship meet. Deng placed 21st at the regional meet and Rittenhouse finished 29th.
  • Spalding qualifies for NCAA meet - 12/04/2006

  • With his performance this past Saturday at the South/Southeast Regional meet, Bridgewater College sophomore Brandon Spalding has qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship meet. Spalding placed fifth overall at the regional meet hosted by Emory University with a time of 26:12.4. The NCAA selection committee selected 32 teams to participate in the men’s championship meet. The top two teams from each regional meet automatically qualified and 16 at-large teams were selected. The first seven athletes from each region who were not part of a qualifying team were also selected to compete. The NCAA cross country championships will be hosted Saturday, Nov. 18, by Wilmington College at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio. The men’s race will begin at 11 a.m.
  • Spalding places fifth at regional meet - 12/04/2006

  • Bridgewater College sophomore Brandon Spalding finished fifth at the South/Southeast Regional Cross County meet hosted Saturday by Emory University. Spalding’s time of 26:12.4 led the Eagles to a strong eighth-place finish aming the 21 competing teams. BC placed three runners in the top 30 as freshman Mawut Deng placed 21st and sophomore Nathan Rittenhouse finished 29th. The Bridgewater women’s team finished in 15th place out of 26 teams. Brittany Wells led the Eagles with a 53rd-place finish with a time of 25:56.

  • The Bridgewater men’s cross country team placed second Saturday at the ODAC Championship meet. The Eagles placed three runners in the Top 15, led by Brandon Spalding with a time of 28:32. Nathan Rittenhouse place sixth at 28:52.90 and Stanley Peyton placed 13th with a time of 29:54.80. Bridgewater head coach Lori Schrock was named the ODAC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year. Spalding and Rittenhouse received first-team All-ODAC honors while Peyton was named to the second team. Washington & Lee placed its five scorers in the Top 15 to win the men’s title. Roanoke’s Eric Johnson was the individual winner. The BC women placed fifth and were led by Brittany Wells who finished in 15th place with a time of 27:19.40. W&L’s Jackie Burns and Kat Tulfeyan finished 1-2 to pace the Generals to the women’s title. Burns won with a time of 24:36.60.
  • Spalding leads Eagles at Gettysburg meet - 12/04/2006

  • The Bridgewater College men’s cross country team placed 10th out 20 teams at Saturday’s Gettysburg Invitational. Sophomore Brandon Spalding led the Eagles’ efforts with a ninth-place finish. Spalding finished with a time of 26:28.90. Sophomore Nathan Rittenhouse also cracked the Top 20 as he finished with a time of 26:46.81 to finish 16th. A total of 208 runners participated. The Bridgewater College women’s team struggled to a 16th-place finish in the 19-team event. Brittany Wells ran the 6K course in a time of 25:30.25 to finish 64th out of 192 runners.
  • Rittenhouse earns ODAC honor - 12/04/2006

  • Bridgewater College’s Nathan Rittenhouse has been named ODAC Cross Country runner of the week. Rittenhouse, a sophomore from Green Bank, W.Va., finished first at the Virginia State Division ll/lll Championship Meet held Saturday in Harrisonburg. Rittenhouse finished with a time of 27:53.9 to edge teammate Brandon Spalding for the title by less than four seconds. Bridgewater placed second at the event, just four points behind Lynchburg College.
  • Rittenhouse wins state meet - 12/04/2006

  • Bridgewater College sophomore Nathan Rittenhouse won the State College Division Cross Country meet held Saturday morning in Harrisonburg. Rittenhouse finished with a time of 27:53.90, less than four seconds ahead of teammate Brandon Spalding. Stanley Peyton finished 13th, followed by Ben Allen in 18th and Steven Hall in 24th to round out the BC effort. The Eagles finished in second place, just behind Lynchburg College. In the women’s event, Brittany Wells led the Bridgewater effort with a time of 26:51. 59 over the 6K course to finish in the 13th place.
  • Men's cross country picked 4th, women 5th - 12/04/2006

  • SALEM, Va. - Washington and Lee University garnered both first place positions in the men's and women's preseason cross country coaches polls released by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) on Friday. Lynchburg College was tabbed second in the men's poll and third in the women's survey while Roanoke College reversed the order with a second place showing for the women and third for the men.
