Bridgewater College is beginning its seventh year with an Equestrian team. The Program offers three different participation options:
- Intercollegiate Riding Team - Any and all experience levels are welcome, the only requirement to be a member of the team is that you enroll in riding lessons at Bridgewater College Equestrian Center. Competitions will be against other intercollegiate teams throughout Virginia.
- Academic Credit - ES 185 Riding is a 1 credit Exercise Science activity course taught at Bridgewater College Equestrian Center. You may re-enroll for the course in subsequent semesters, but not for additional credits.
- Recreational Riding - You can choose to enroll in riding lessons at Bridgewater College Equestrian Center as a recreational rider if you do not have the time or the interest in competition riding. This option is also offered every semester.
Additional Opportunities
Bridgewater College attends several "A" rated horse shows each year, taking college-owned as well as privately owned mounts. This aspect of our program is entirely separate from our intercollegiate team and all riders from our program are encouraged to participate.
We also attend several Southwest Virginia Hunter/Jumper Association member shows as well as hosting two of the member events at our own facility (BCEC). These shows are open to all riding program participants.
