Bridgewater College's Brooke Barham was recognized on the IWLCA academic honor roll released Monday.The IWLCA announced that 172 Division III student-athletes earned Academic Honor Roll status for 2008. Players must have achieved at least junior year status and have a minimum GPA of 3.2. |
![]() ![]() Three Bridgewater College Eagles were named to the All-ODAC lacrosse team released Friday by the conference office. Seniors Sarah Wade and Lauren Kondor and sophomore Colleen Schwind received honorable mention on the all-conference team. Wade was second on the team in scoring with 24 goals and 16 assists. She led the Eagles in ground balls and caused turnovers. Wade led the ODAC and ranked No. 7 in Division III in caused turnovers with 2.73 per game. Kondor finished the season with 14 goals and seven assists. She was second on the team in ground balls and caused turnovers. Schwind finished the season with 164 saves as the BC goalkeeper. She led the ODAC in saves with 10.93 per game. |
Bridgewater's lacrosse season came to an end Sunday afternoon at Jopson Field as the Eagles fell to Guilford College, 15-9, in ODAC action.The Eagles fell behind 6-1 at the half, but the team put up a spirited battle in the second half, playing the Quakers on event terms. The early deficit, however, was too much to overcome as the Eagles finished the season with a 5-10 overall record and a 1-7 mark in the ODAC. Sarah Wade and Leslie Crawford led the Eagles as each player scored three goals. Lindsay Snyder, Sarah Bursey and Jordan Kwong added one goal apiece. Lauren Kondor finished with three assists and Bursey added two assists. Erin Cartwright and Brooke Barham also added one assist each. Colleen Schwind allowed 11 goals and finished with nine saves. Schwind entered the game ranked No. 5 in the nation with 129 saves on the season. |
Sweet Briar scored four unanswered goals late in the game to take the lead and then held on in the final seconds to defeat Bridgewater College, 11-10, Saturday in ODAC lacrosse action. The Eagles led 4-3 at the half on goals by Sarah Wade, Sarah Burseym Lindsay Snyder and Erin Cartwright. Goals by Emily Hammer and Lauren Kondor broke a 7-7 tie and gave the Eagles a 9-7 lead with 8:33 left in the game. Sweet Briar then scored the next four goals – two each by Megan Behrle and Meredith Newman – to take an 11-9 lead with 2:15 left to play. Wade scored on a free position shot with 1:38 left to pull the Eagles within one, but BC was unable to put in a tying goal in the closing seconds as Sweet Briar held on for the victory. Wade led the Eagles with three goals and two assists and Bursey added two goals. Hammer, Kondor, Cartwright, Snyder and Crawford scored one goal apiece for BC. Bridgewater closes out its season Sunday afternoon at home when the Eagles host Guilford College at 2 p.m. |
Roanoke College took a 10-1 lead in the first half and defeated Bridgewater College, 14-5, in ODAC lacrosse action Wednesday.Scoring the goals for the Eagles were Emily Hammer, Leslie Crawford, Sarah Bursey, Lauren Kondor and Jordan Kwong. Recording assists were Erin Cartwright, Bursey and Sarah Wade. Goalkeeper Colleen Schwind recorded 12 saves for the Eagles. Gina Valles led the Maroons with four goals and Amanda Hutchins added three. Brooke Laufman and Carolyn Miller scored two goals each for Roanoke while teammates Meegan Rourke and Sunni Ray added one goal apiece. The Eagles are now 5-8 and 1-5 in the ODAC. Roanoke is 7-7 overall and 4-2 in the ODAC. |
Bridgewater took a 5-4 halftime lead and held on for a 9-8 victory over Ferrum College in non-conference lacrosse action Satruday. Corinne Musanti opened the second half with two goals to give the Panthers the lead, but the Eagles responded with three straight goals to regain the lead for good. Sarah Wade scored off an assist from Sarah Bursey to tie the score and Lauren Kondor scored an unassisted goal to put the Eagles up 7-6. Emily Hammer then score off an assist from Erin Cartwright to make the score 8-6. Olivia Mendoza pulled the Panthers to within one but Lindsay Snyder answered to give BC a 9-7 margin with 6:46 left. Cara Jenkins scored for Ferrum at the 4:36 mark to make it a one-goal game at 9-8, but the Eagles held the Panthers scoreless the rest of the way to preserve the 9-9 victory. Wade, Snyder and Bursey scored two goals each to lead the BC attack. Hammer, Kondor and Crystal Reynolds each added one goal. BC goalkeeper Colleen Schwind finished the game with 10 saves. Bridgewater is now 5-7 overall. Ferrum falls to 3-7. |

The Eagles were within striking distance at the half, trailing just 10-7, but Keene State pulled away in the second half. Lindsay Snyder scored four goals to lead the attack. Lauren Kondor added three goals followed by Sarah Wade with two and Sarah Bursey with two. Leslie Crawford finished with four assists for the Eagles. Courtesy of ODACSALEM, Va. - Washington & Lee University picked up 77 total votes and six first place votes as the Generals came out on top of the 2008 ODAC Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Poll. Roanoke College received a pair of first place considerations and 73 overall votes. Randolph-Macon College rounded out the top three with 59 total tallies and the remaining first place nod. Washington & Lee (15-4, 8-0 ODAC) tied a league record with its ninth overall ODAC title and fifth straight dating back to 2003. Head coach Brooke Diamond takes over the blue and white from Jan Hathorn, the 2007 selection as ODAC coach of the year who has since become W&L’s new Athletics Director. The Generals return four All-ODAC selections in second teamers Megan Slosson and Sarah Tilbor and first team honorees Kelsi Robinson and Kat Michaels. Robinson led W&L and finished second in the ODAC in scoring with 67 points, collecting 33 goals and dishing out 34 assists. Slosson notched 40 points on 32 goals and eight helpers, while Michaels led the team with 43 caused turnovers to go with 37 ground balls. Tilbor, a former first team selection, started all 19 games and posted a 5.67 goals-against-average in split time amongst two other goalkeepers. The Generals welcome back six starters in total from a team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Bridgewater College junior Lauren Kondor was named to the VaSID All-State College Division lacrosse team released Wednesday.Kondor was named to the all-state second team as a defender. Earlier this season Kondor received All-ODAC second-team honors. Mary Washington’s Kaitlyn Barker was named state player of the year and Lynchburg’s Kathryn Ollice was named the state rookie of the year. Bridgewater College juniors Sarah Wade (Raphine, Va./Stuarts Draft) and Lauren Kondor (Mt. Sidney, Va./Fort Defiance) have been selected to the All-ODAC Second Team in women’s lacrosse for the 2007 season.Wade led the Eagles in scoring with 38 points. She was second on the team in goals scored with 29 and tied for the team lead in assists with nine. She also led the team in ground balls with 45 and draw controls with 45. Kondor was one of the top defenders this season for the Eagles. She was second on the team in ground balls and caused turnovers. She also scored 15 points on 14 goals and one assist. The Eagles finished the season with a 2-6 ODAC record and an 8-8 overall mark. Roanoke’s Katlyn Scarlett was named the ODAC Player of the Year and her teammate Brooks Laufman was named Rookie of the Year. Washington & Lee’s Jan Hathorn was named Coach of the Year and Randolph-Macon’s Torrie Higgins received the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. |

| The Eagles led 4-3 at the half when Lindsay Snyder scored in the final 30 seconds of play to send BC to the break with a one-goal lead. Marymount’s Heather Bretschger tied the score at 7-7 with a goal at the 12:45 mark, but the Eagles responded with three straight goals to regain the advantage. Snyder answered with a goal less than a minute after Marymount tied the score and Sarah Wade scored with 8:20 left in the game, making the score 9-7. Emily Bauer added a goal with 6:36 remaining to make the score 10-7 and the Eagles held Marymount to just one goal the rest of the way to secure the victory. Snyder led the Eagles with three goals while Wade and Lauren Kondor added two goals each. Bauer, Anne Fisher and Emily Hammer completed the BC scoring. Collen Schwind recorded six saves in goal for the Eagles. Bridgewater completes its season this weekend with a two-game road trip to Pennsylvania for games against Gwynedd-Mercy and Arcadia. |
Bridgewater College opened up a 7-2 lead at the half Saturday and held on to defeat Sweet Briar in ODAC lacrosse action on Senior Day at Mapp Field. Sweet Briar’s Julie Sellers scored the first goal of the game, but Bridgewater answered with four straight goals to take control of the first half. Lindsay Snyder scored BC’s first goal and Sarah Wade found the net to give the Eagles the lead. Ashley Andrick scored the next two goals, the second on an assist from Emily Bauer, giving the Eagles a 4-1 lead. Meredith Newman pulled the Vixens within one before goals by Anne Fisher, Erin Cartwright and Abby Morris gave Bridgewater a 7-2 lead. The teams traded goal in the first 20 minutes of the second half with Cartwright and Bauer scoring for BC and Newman scoring twice for Sweet Briar. The Vixens score the final two goals of the game with the last coming with 2:49 left on the clock. Prior to the game, Bridgewater recognized its four seniors – Andrick, Bauer, Fisher and Karen Hammerschmidt. Andrick finished with two goals, two draw controls, four ground balls and one caused turnover. Bauer had a goal and an assist to go along with one draw and five ground balls. She also caused four turnovers. Fisher had one goal and one draw control while Hammerschmidt had three ground balls and caused two turnovers. Virginia Wesleyan College scored the final two goals of the match Saturday afternoon to slip past Bridgewater College, 11-9, in ODAC lacrosse action.The Eagles jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead with goals by Sarah Wade, Lauren Kondor, Abby Morris and Lindsay Snyder. The Marlins closed to within 4-3 but goals by Wade and Snyder kept the Eagles in the lead, 6-5 at the half. The Marlins scored the first two goals of the second half to take the lead but Emily Bauer scored off an assist from Erin Cartwright to tie the score at 7-7. A goal by BC’s Snyder tied the score at 8-all and a goal by Ashley Andrick tied the score at 9-9 with 13:50 left to play. Laura Norris gave the Marlins the lead with 13:22 left and Bethany Adomanis added a goal with 4:40 left to complete the scoring. Guilford College outscored Bridgewater College 13-2 in the second half to take a 17-7 victory Saturday in ODAC women’s lacrosse action. The Eagles held a 5-2 lead with 13:32 left in the half on a goal by Abby Morris and at the break BC was on top, 5-4. Guilford scored four goals in the first 2:38 of the second half to take an 8-5 lead and pulled away for the 17-7 victory. The Quakers (3-5, 1-2 ODAC) were led by Jordan Clodfelter with five goals. Lynchburg College outscored Bridgewater 5-1 in the final 18 minutes Tuesday afternoon to pull out a 14-11 victory over the Eagles in ODAC lacrosse action.The Eagles led 8-7 at the half. BC took its last lead with 19:25 remaining when Emily Bauer scored off an assist from Lindsay Snyder to give the Eagles a 10-9 lead. Nicole Locher then reeled off four straight goals for the Hornets to lift the visitors to a 13-10. The Hornets added another goal before BC’s Anne Fisher scored with just less than five minutes to play. Sarah Wade led the Eagles with three goals. Bridgewater College has been picked seventh in the ODAC Coaches Women’s Lacrosse preseason poll released Tuesday. The Eagles finished 4-11 a year ago and 1-7 in the ODAC. Second-year head coach Kathy Kerr welcomes back the top eight goal scorers from last year’s team. In all, 95 percent of last season’s goals and 97 percent of the team’s total points return from a year ago. Nine freshmen have been added to the mix as the Eagles seek to continue their improvement. The teams battled to a 5-5 tie at the half. Two quick goals by Randlolph-Macon’s Alex Wright gave the Yellow Jackets a 7-5 lead, but the Eagles responded to score the next three goals. Anne Fisher’s goal pulled the Eagles within one and Lindsay Snyder tied the score with a goal off an assist from Lauren Kondor. Karen Hammerschmidt then scored off an assist from Abby Morris to give the Eagles an 8-7 lead with 21:04 left to play. The Yellow Jackets tied the score on a goal by Lacy Phelps and Liz Lombardo’s goal with 16:11 left to play gave Randolph-Macon the lead for good. The Eagles are now 4-10 overall and 1-6 in the ODAC. | The Bridgewater College lacrosse team defeated Southern Virginia, 15-3, on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Abby Morris, Emily Bauer, Lindsay Snyder, Karen Hammerschmidt, Sarah Wade and Lauren Kondor scored two goals each for the Eagles. Anne Fisher, Ashley Andrick and Crystal Reynolds added one goal apiece. Jennifer Midgette recorded 13 saves for BC. |
