Mike Van Horn, Head Coach

Mike Van Horn begins his first season as head coach of the women’s soccer program at Bridgewater College.
Van Horn brings a wealth of coaching experience at both the high school, club and collegiate levels to the Eagles’ program.
Van Horn served as the assistant soccer coach/goalkeeper coach for the Bridgewater men’s team. He was responsible for organizing and directing all goalkeeper sessions for the men’s team. He was also involved in many other aspects of the program including the recruiting process. During his three seasons with the team, the Eagles qualified for two ODAC tournaments, including one appearance in the conference semifinals.
Van Horn also coached the girls’ soccer team at Turner Ashby High School for three seasons and led the Knights to one district championship.
From 2003-2005, he served as men’s assistant soccer coach at King’s College in Wilkes Barre, Pa. During his tenure, King's posted back-to-back, double-digit win seasons for just the second time in college history.
Van Horn graduated from Christopher Newport University with a bachelor of science degree in exercise science. He earned his master of science in athletic administration from James Madison University.
"My goal," said Van Horn, " is to develop a soccer culture focused on compassion and respect for each aspect of the game and each student-athlete, while progressively raising the standard of the program and maintaining high academic standards."
Brian Turner, Assistant Coach

Brian Turner begins his first season on the Eagles coaching staff as an assistant coach. He will be primarily responsible for coaching the goalkeepers as well as recruiting. Turner previously worked with the JMU men's team as a volunteer assistant. While at JMU he earned his Master's Degree in Athletic Administration and Coaching.
Turner received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Mary Washington in 2000 where he was four-year letter winner with the men's soccer team. After graduation, Turner served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps for four and a half years.
Turner holds a USSF National "C" license as well as a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma. He is also involved with coaching at the high school level in Rockingham County.
Turner currently resides in Harrisonburg with his wife Jenny and daughter Amelia.
Jason Capps, Assistant Coach

Jason Capps enters his first season with the Bridgewater women's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach. Capps previously served as a volunteer assistant with the women's soccer team at Middle Tennesseee State University where he was part of the 2004 Sun Belt Conference Championship staff. He was also involved in travel and high school soccer in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Capps received his Bachelor of Arts in English from MTSU in 2008. Capps currently holds a USSF National "D" license. He currently resides in Harrisonburg with his wife Lara.
