Bridgewater College tied for fifth place at the ODAC Swimming Championships held at the Dedmon Center on the Radford University campus. The championship was the first-ever appearance for the Eagles at the ODAC meet. Bridgewater scored 239 points to tie Guilford College for fifth place. Washington & Lee placed first with Randolph-Macon second, Sweet Briar third and Randolph College fourth. Hollins in seventh and Emory & Henry in eighth rounded out the standings. Bridgewater had four Top 10 individual performances during the meet with three coming in the same event – the 200-yard freestyle. Michelle Smith placed seventh with a time of 2:13.43 and Megan Cordle was eighth with a time of 2:14.94. Lauren Gladish placed 10th in the event at 2:16.48. Katie Schexnayder earned a 10th-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:38.60. |

The Bridgewater College swim team picked up its second victory of the season Saturday afternoon at the Bridgewater pool in a meet with Washington & Lee, Randolph-Macon and Emory & Henry.W&L was 3-0 on the day while Randolph picked up wins over BC and E&H. Bridgewater picked up its victory by defeating E&H. Top individual performances by the Eagles included a second-place finish by Morgan Cordle in 400 freestyle and third-place finishes by Lauren Gladish in the 400 freestyle and Kateland Schlemm in the 100 breaststroke. |
The Bridgewater College swim team picked up its first victory in the program’s history Thursday night when the Eagles defeated Hollins, 62-33, at Sweet Briar College. The Eagles also competed against Sweet Briar, losing to the host team by a score of 67-28. Morgan Cordle was the lone individual winner for the Eagles as she took first place in the 400 freestyle with a time of 5:11.71.
