  • Hartman, 4x100 relay qualify for NCAA meet - 05/19/2008

  • national logoBridgewater College qualified athletes in two events for the upcoming NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field Championships hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

    Courtney Hartman will compete in the heptathon were she ranks No. 16 in the nation entering the NCAA meet.

    The women’s 4x100 relay team (Hartman, Jill Wattai, Sammy Mizerak and Samantha Phillips) posted a time of 47.83 seconds this season and is ranked eighth entering the national meet.

    The top eight finishers in each event earn All-American status. The national meet runs May 22-24.
  • Rhodes sets new BC record in pole vault - 05/16/2008

  • ODACtf Bridgewater College freshman Christina Rhodes broke her own record in the pole vault Friday during the Eastern Mennonite University Last Chance Meet.

    Rhodes set the new record and also improved her NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event by clearing 11 feet, 7.75 inches.

    Also winning at Friday's meet was the women's 4x100 relay team with a time of 48.15 seconds. Running for the Eagles were Jill Wattai, Courtney Hartman, Samantha Phillips and Sammy Mizerak.
  • Hartman sets new record in heptathlon - 05/11/2008

  • hartmanBridgewater College sophomore Courtney Hartman set a new BC record in the heptathlon this weekend at Generals Combined Event Challenge hosted by Washington & Lee.

    Hartman finished the two-day, seven-event competition with 4,380 points.

    Hartman also improved her point total as a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division III meet. This weekend's effort moves Hartman into the Top 10 in Division III in the event.
  • Rhodes meets NCAA provisional mark - 05/10/2008

  • ODACtf Bridgewater College freshman Christina Rhodes met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the pole vault Saturday at Christopher Newport.

    Rhodes set a new BC record in the pole vault as she cleared 3.51 meters (11 feet, 6.25 inches).

    Jill Wattai placed second in the 200 with a time of 25.51 seconds.

  • Wattai just misses provisional qualifying mark - 05/01/2008

  • Jill Wattai Jill Wattai just missed the provisional qualifying standard in the 200 meters during Thursday's Liberty Twilight Invitational.

    Wattai ran the event in a time of 25.34 seconds, just .02 of a second off of the provisional qualifying standard.

    The 4x100 relay (Courtney Hartman, Samantha Phillips, Wattai and Sammy Mizerak) took first with a time of 48.35 seconds.

    Mizerak also placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 102 feet, 4 inches.
