  • Eagles add miidle hitter to recruiting class - 06/26/2009

  • Cadie CastleCatherine Castle, a 5-11 middle hitter and a recent graduate of Louisa County High School, has announced she will play volleyball at Bridgewater College during the 2009 season.

    "Cadie will bring some depth to our program at middle hitter, " Bridgewater College head coach Greg Spector said. "Cadie is hard working and a fierce competitor. Those qualities coupled with her coach-ability are sure to help us in the gym come this fall. I am looking forward to watching Cadie grow as a person in addition to her growth as a player."
  • Eagles select captains for 2009 season - 05/20/2009

  • Tricia DavisErika DirnaglParla ClineAt the conclusion of the spring season, the Bridgewater College volleyball team selected their captains. Trisha Davis, Erika Dirnagl and Parla Cline were selected as the three captains to represent the team in the upcoming season.

    "Each of these athletes brings something significant and important to the role of captain," Eagles head volleyball coach Greg Spector said.

    "Trisha is a terrific leader and is constantly seeking ways to get more from her teammates, whether it is in the weight room or on the court. Trisha is always pushing her teammates.

    "Erika is a consummate competitor, she is about winning. Erika will look to have some of her competitive edge rub off on her teammates as they strive to accomplish their goals for the upcoming season.

    "In addition to being one of the teams hardest workers, Parla is a teammate in every sense of the word. All of her teammates look to her for advice and her calm, cool demeanor will be a great balance for the trio of captains."
  • Eagles announce sixth commitment - 04/21/2009

  • Carly WhitingCarly Whiting, a senior from Craig County High School, is the sixth player to announce her intent to play volleyball at Bridgewater College next season.

    Whiting played middle hitter as a senior in high school, but will work at the setter position when she arrives at BC.

    "Carly's background as a setter will allow her to train with our current setter for a year and then take the reins at that position her sophomore year," Bridgewater College head coach Greg Spector said. "Carly will help us with depth her freshman year because of her ability to play across the net as an offensive weapon. We are very excited to have an athlete of Carly's caliber committing to training for a year to help us take the next step as a program."

    Expected to join the Eagles in 2009 are Abby Platt (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge H.S.), Casey O'Leary (Quinton, Va./New Kent H.S.), Mara Hogan (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby H.S.), Ashley Scott (South Ridding, Va./Heritage H.S.) and Kelsey Powell (Snohomish, Wash./Archbishop Thomas Murphy H.S.).   • Volleyball announces summer camp offering - 02/23/2009

  • The Bridgewater College volleyball staff will be conducting the Winning Edge Volleyball Camp this summer on the BC campus.

    Camp dates are July 19-23 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day. Openings are available for resident or day campers.

    The camp will be conducted by Greg Spector, Bridgewater College head volleyball coach, Matt Maynard, BC assistant volleyball coach and Gina Troyer, head volleyball coach at Turner Ashby High School.[Click Here for More Information]
