Every resident student is issued an authorization code for dialing long distance from dorm room extensions. Authorization codes can be found on WebAdvisor under the Phone Information link. Student phones are restricted from making long distance phone calls unless an authorization code is used. Your authorization code should be considered extremely confidential and should be memorized. Do not leave an authorization code lying around for others to see. Any calls made with your authorization code will be charged to your account regardless of who made the calls!
If you should lose your authorization code, call the HelpDesk (x4357 - on campus only or 540-828-5436 - off campus) immediately. Another authorization code will be issued to you and the number you lost will be deactivated.
Long distance calls made using your authorization code will be charged to your personal telecommunications account. Each month you will receive an itemized list of calls charged to your account. Review this itemized list when you receive your phone bill. Disputed charges must be presented to the Telecom manager prior to the next billing cycle.
Note: Authorization codes do not have any spending limit on them except as noted below. If you have problems controlling your long distance phone calling, you may call the Telecom Office (X5646) at anytime and request the cancellation of your authorization code for a period of time.
ATTENTION: If your long distance balance exceeds $200.00, your authorization code will be deactivated until the balance is paid in full, and we reserve the right to send your phone bill home. In addition, if you do not make a payment for three billing periods, regardless of the outstanding balance on your account, your long distance authorization code will be deactivated. Your account must be paid in full before your authorization code will be turned back on.
