Federal Grants

By reviewing your FAFSA analysis we can determine your eligibility for these federal grants:

Federal Pell Grant
Must submit a FAFSA
Amount determined by government calculation
Must enroll in at least 12 credits in a semester to receive full funding for that semester
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Must submit a FAFSA
Award given to selected Pell Grant recipient
Academic Competitiveness Grant(ACG)
    First -Year ACG
    Must submit a FAFSA
    Be a U.S. citizen
    Be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant
    Have completed a rigorous high school program of study (as determined by the U.S. Department of Education) after January 1, 2005
    Be enrolled full-time in a two or four year degree program
    Be a first academic year undergraduate student
    Did not receive ACG grant at the same level in his or her prior academic year Second -Year ACG
    Must submit a FAFSA
    Be a U.S. citizen
    Be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant
    Have completed a rigorous high school program of study (as determined by the U.S. Department of Education) after January 1, 2005
    Be enrolled full-time in a two or four year degree program
    Be a second academic year undergraduate student (as determined by the U.S. Department of Education) AND have a cumulative College GPA of 3.0
    Did not receive ACG grant at the same level in his or her prior academic year
SMART Grant
    Must submit a FAFSA
    Be a U.S. citizen
    Be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant
    Be enrolled full-time in a four year degree program
    Be a third or fourth year undergraduate student(as determined by the U.S. Department of Education) AND have a cumulative College GPA of 3.0
    Pursuing in one of the following majors at Bridgewater College: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Mathematics and Physics, Applied Physics and Physics
    Did not receive this grant at the same level in his or her prior academic year

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant

Must submit a FAFSA
Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
Be enrolled in coursework that is necessary to begin a career in teaching or plan to complete such coursework.
Meet certain academic achievement requirements (generally, scoring above the 75thpercentile on a college admissions test or maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25)
Must not have earned a Bachelor’s degree or Post-Baccalaureate degree
Sign a TEACHGrant Agrmt to Serve https://teach-ats.ed.gov/ats/index.action

NOTE:
If a recipient fails to complete the service requirement as described in the TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve, the TEACH Grant will be treated as Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan with interest accruing form the date the grant was disbursed.
