Why does my Financial Aid Statement differ from the Estimated Student Account Statement I received from the Business Office?
The Financial Aid Statement includes items such as work study contracts and does not include the credit for the reservation deposit you paid to reserve your spot at the College. As well, if a parent Plus loan is borrowed to help finance your education, the College actually receives the net amount of funds after lender fees are deducted from the proceeds. Your financial aid form lists the gross amount borrowed including any deducted origination fees. Other differences may occur if various dorm or other charges are added after your Financial Aid Statement has been mailed.
Do you accept credit cards?
We do not accept credit cards for student account payments.
How do I receive a refund if I have a credit balance (surplus) on my account?
If you have a credit balance on your account, you can request your refund either in person or via email. Checks are written on Tuesday and Friday with deadlines being 11 a.m. the prior day. When picking up a refund check, students must present a valid student I.D. card. Refunds for graduates and other non-current students are generally processed within two to four weeks after leaving the College. Please note: Checks are made payable to the student unless the student requests a different payee. Also, account refunds are not generated for amounts less than two dollars. Students requesting refunds via email must pick up their checks in the Business Office and present a valid student I.D. card.
Email should be directed to: bcbusiness@bridgewater.edu
Can I charge books to my student account?
No. The bookstore accepts cash, checks, and credit cards. However, if you have a credit balance on your student account we can issue a refund check. It is important to note your credit balance must result from funds actually received by the College. Many student loan programs do not disburse funds until after enrollment has been verified; this may not occur until a few weeks after classes start. If your credit balance will be caused by student loans, you should make alternate arrangements to purchase textbooks until loan funds are credited to your account. The student must request this and allow seven to ten days (after the request is received) for the check. For more information on this, see "How do I receive a refund if I have a credit balance on my account?"
Do you cash checks?
Yes, we cash checks up to $250.00. We require you to show your student ID.
