Bridgewater College is seeking full-time Area Coordinators to manage Residence Hall communities for the Department of Student Life.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Area Coordinator is a full-time (12-month) live-in position. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing two or more residential areas with approximately 250 – 400 residents
  • Supervising 4 – 12 student resident advisors
  • Participating in campus duty rotation
  • Coordinating programming and community development
  • Adjudicating student conduct cases
  • Advising hall government
  • Participating in a collateral assignment in a Student Life Office which could include: Student Activities, Multicultural Services, Health Services, Orientation, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree in College Student Affairs, Higher Education, or closely related field and experience in residence life, student activities, or student affairs/services are highly preferred. We seek candidates with excellent communication and organizational skills, an appreciation for diversity, a positive attitude and strong work ethic, flexibility, and genuine concern for students’ development and well-being.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Bridgewater offers bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees in more than 60 majors and minors, along with multiple areas of emphasis and concentrations, pre-professional programs such as medicine and law, dual degree programs and teacher certification. The College is a member of NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, with 22 intercollegiate athletic teams. The vibrant 300-acre residential campus includes an equestrian center and is located in the town of Bridgewater, Virginia, near the city of Harrisonburg in the center of the Shenandoah Valley.
