Bridgewater College’s Department of Health and Human Sciences seeks a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor in Health and Human Sciences with a specialty in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) for a 9-month position beginning August 2014.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach FCS undergraduate courses e.g. general FCS content courses, research methods, etc.; advise students and provide career guidance; participate in course and program development; collaborate with faculty in related family and consumer sciences’ areas to maintain a progressive curriculum; participate in professional organizations; engage students and self in scholarly work; contribute to the ongoing development of the department; and participate in campus and community service activities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates will have earned a terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D.) with a degree emphasis in family and consumer sciences or closely related field of study and have evidence of a scholarly research agenda. Candidates who are ABD may be considered if their degree is expected to be conferred prior to August 1, 2014. Additionally, evidence of successful higher education teaching experience in Family and Consumer Sciences or related area and affiliation with the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences are preferred. Applicants with teaching experience in multiple FCS content areas and hold or are eligible for certification in family life education (CFLE) would be ideal.
GENERAL INFORMATION: The Department of Health and Human Sciences offers multiple majors including three related to FCS: FCS Education, General FCS and Nutrition and Wellness. The department maintains a core curriculum with foundational ties to Family and Consumer Sciences’ principles.
Bridgewater College is an independent, private liberal arts college founded in 1880.
