High School Requirements

Incoming high school graduates must have completed a core of selected high school courses as well as specific performance criteria listed below.

Core Courses

There are 17 units of required academic courses required for admission. A unit is described as one year of high school study.

Category Units Requirements
English 4 All units must include intensive reading and writing experiences.
Mathematics 3 Minimum of Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry.
Social Sciences 2 Drawn from any social science discipline.
Science 2 Drawn from any science disciplines and should include lab units

Other Suggested Courses
Foreign Language 2 Both units should be in the same language. Preferably French, German or Spanish.
Electives 4 Drawn from suitable electives

Performance Requirements

In addition to meeting the above core requirements, freshmen seeking admission to Bridgewater College should:

  • Have a record of completing college preparatory classes throughout high school
  • Rank in the upper half of the graduating class, or evidence of additional strong academic qualities
  • Have a satisfactory score on the SAT or ACT
  • Display good character, which includes, but is not limited to, such qualities as honesty, integrity and responsibility

Advanced Placement

Credit and advanced placement may be awarded to students on the basis of results on the Advanced Placement (AP) Tests of the College Entrance Examination Board. A minimum score of three (3) is required for credit consideration.

Application Procedure

Application for admission may be made upon the completion of the junior year in high school, and it should be made no later than May 1 for fall semester and October 1 for spring semester of the year one wishes to enroll. Those who wish to join at the beginning of Interterm or the Spring Semester must file an application for admission at least 30 days in advance of the date of enrollment.

In order to make a decision about the ability of the applicant to do college work, full and complete information concerning the achievements of the applicants must be obtained.

Completed applications must include the following:

  1. Application form Apply Online!
  2. High school transcript – Have your high school forward an official transcript to the office of admissions.
  3. Standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) – Have your standardized test scores submitted by your high school on your transcript or have them sent directly to us by the College Board or ACT.
