Alumni Spotlight | Brad Hallock '86

“I didn’t consider applying to any other school,” said Brad Hallock, a 1986 graduate of Bridgewater College. Both of Hallock’s parents and numerous other family members are BC alumni, and he said that due to both his familiarity with the College and its good reputation, he never planned to go anywhere else.
As a business administration major with a concentration (now emphasis) in accounting, Hallock said, “I appreciate the solid business and accounting education that left me well-prepared for my career, as well as the liberal arts approach that allowed me to incorporate other areas of interest such as history and religion into my overall education. In addition, I took advantage of two opportunities to travel abroad during Interterm that enhanced my educational experience and expanded my view of the world.”
After his graduation from BC, he worked in accounting for several employers, while in the meantime dating and marrying his BC classmate Karla McCray. In 1991, he earned his M.B.A. from James Madison University. Currently, Hallock is the Corporate Controller and CFO of Equipment Development Co., Inc. in Frederick, Md., where he has been employed for the past 23 years.
Hallock is an active member of Frederick Church of the Brethren, where he has served in various leadership roles over the past two decades. He currently serves on numerous committees, leads an adult Sunday school class, volunteers as a youth leader and participates in three musical groups.
Dedicated BC alumni, Hallock and his wife Karla have attended numerous Homecomings, class reunions, BC choral concerts and alumni events. They have hosted Frederick-area send-off parties for new students for the last three years, and their daughter Katey is now a senior at BC. Hallock has also served on the BC Alumni Association board for three years. “It's always a pleasure to be on campus for any reason. In addition to valuing the education we received, Karla and I both treasure the memories and friendships made at BC.”
