Alumni Spotlight | Lori Carlton '12
Lori Carlton '12
Lori Carlton first learned about Bridgewater College from her high school English teacher. She soon attended an open house and fell in love. She said, “Bridgewater is the only college that I applied to.”
Carlton, a 2012 graduate with a B.A. in history and political science, said that at Bridgewater, she learned “how to be an active participant in a community and lifelong communication and leadership skills.” She said those skills are not just important in her career, but they’ve also made a difference in her daily life.
After graduation, Carlton worked as an admissions counselor while also taking classes to obtain her teaching license. She now teaches preschool at a Catholic school in Bristol, Va. She is an active member of the Junior League of Bristol, where she participates in a number of community service projects. She volunteers with middle and high school youth groups at her church, and this past July she went with the high school youth group on a mission trip to Costa Rica.
Her dedication to Bridgewater has continued since graduation. She has been a member of the BC Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2012, is a regular supporter of the Bridgewater annual fund and makes attending Homecoming and various athletic events a priority each year. “Most importantly, I share my experiences and passion for Bridgewater with others every chance that I am able.” She continued, “The education that I received at Bridgewater over four years prepared me for a lifetime of success.”
