Alumni Spotlight | Troy Jackson '14
Troy Jackson ’14 was looking for a college that felt like a second home. He found it at Bridgewater College. The camaraderie he observed among the students felt special, and he knew it was a community where he wanted to spend the next four years of his life. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2014.
At Bridgewater, Jackson cherished the opportunity to travel, interact with different cultures and hear from a variety of perspectives. “I could interact with ambassadors on Dr. Frueh’s United Nations Interterm trip one week, and another week I could be talking to inmates and released prisoners in halfway houses with Dr. Brazill.”
Currently pursuing a J.D. at Howard University School of Law, Jackson took a year off after graduation to work at the Injured Workers Law Firm, a workers’ compensation law firm in Richmond, Va. He wanted to be sure that he wanted to pursue a law degree and believes his Bridgewater education was invaluable preparation for the working world and client interactions. Now in law school, he commented, “The ability to look at various social problems from different perspectives really allows me to have a distinct approach to problems in the law classroom.”
Jackson has been active in the BC Alumni Association since his senior year, regularly attending meetings and coming back to campus for events such as Homecoming and Relay for Life. He also enjoys attending regional events in the Richmond area and stays in touch with a number of his classmates throughout the year.
