Anna Duncan To Give Senior Trumpet Recital At BC | ||

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Anna Duncan, a music major from Stuarts Draft, Va., will present a senior recital at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music. For her trumpet recital, Duncan will perform "Andante et Scherzo" by Jacques Ed. Barat, and "Three Episodes" by Joseph Turrin. The second movement will be performed on a flugel horn. The program also includes the first movement of "Concerto for Trumpet and Strings in E Flat Major" by Johann Baptist George Neruda. Duncan will also play Arcangelo Corelli's "Sonata VIII," movements I, II, III and IV. The recital ends with "Chiapanecas" by Rafael Méndez. Duncan studies trumpet under Dr. Timothy Weir, visiting assistant professor of music, and will be accompanied on piano by Mary Beth Flory, adjunct instructor of music. Duncan is the daughter of Duane and Gigi Duncan of Stuarts Draft, Va. At Bridgewater, she is a member of the Symphonic and Jazz bands and serves as conductor of the Pep Band. She also participates in a trumpet ensemble. She is a member of Music Educators National Conference and serves as an assistant in the music department. The recital is free and open to the public. Bridgewater College, a private, four-year liberal arts college, enrolls more than 1,500 students. Founded in 1880 and located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, it was the state's first private, coeducational senior college. | ||
