David Radcliff To Speak At Bridgewater College | ||

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — The Rev. Dr. David Radcliff, director of the New Community Project, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College. At the evening program, Radcliff will speak on "War of the Worlds." According to Radcliff, people have a choice between two worlds a world of peace and prosperity for everyone based on earth care and fairness between people and a world of conflict and inequality as a result of over consumption and exploitation. Photos and stories from around the world will be presented highlighting the two paths. In August 2003, Radcliff joined with others to form the New Community Project, a faith-based nonprofit organization focused on justice concerns and stewardship of God's earth. Radcliff is an adjunct faculty member in the adult degree program at Elizabethtown (Pa.) College, teaching in the areas of globalization, hunger and poverty, and environmental stewardship. A frequent speaker at churches, colleges and environmental conferences, Radcliff has led delegations to Guatemala, Honduras, Iraq, North Korea, Sudan and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He also has visited Nepal, Ethiopia, India and Thailand. From 1989 2003, Radcliff served as a staff member for the Church of the Brethren General Board in the areas of peace, justice and environmental stewardship. He is a regular contributor to Messenger, the denomination's magazine. Radcliff, a 1975 graduate of Bridgewater College, earned master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from Bethany Theological Seminary. A native of southwest Virginia, Radcliff lives in Elgin, Ill. The convocation, sponsored by the Weimer Christian vocation of Peace and Peacemaking Lectures, is free and open to the public. | ||
