Kreg Owens To Exhibit Work At Bridgewater College | ||

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Kreg Owens, instructor at Eastern Mennonite and James Madison universities, will exhibit selected works in the Cleo Driver Miller Art Gallery at Bridgewater College Jan. 3 – 30. An artist reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in the Miller Gallery. Before the reception, Owens will give an artist talk in the Boitnott Room at 4 p.m. The reception, talk and exhibit are open to the public at no charge. The show, "Kreg Owens: Selected Works" features furniture, ceramic vessels, mixed media wall pieces and sculpture. His work runs the gamut in aesthetic and conceptual design from the quirky and whimsical, to the formally elegant, and those that are quiet and utilitarian. Owens has presented in over 30 solo and group exhibits, has lectured across the United States, and has work included in numerous private collections both within the U.S. and abroad. His work has been included in numerous books including Beginning Sculpture, 500 Teapots, Architectural Ceramics, Wheel-Thrown Ceramics, The Ceramic Design Book and The Best of Pottery. In addition, his art has been featured in a number of regional magazines and the international trade magazine, Ceramics Monthly. Owens has been an artist for nearly 20 years and is an instructor in speech communication studies at JMU and has instructed courses in 3D design and ceramics at EMU since 2006. He received a B.A. degree from Northwest Nazarene College, an M.A. degree in speech communication from Eastern New Mexico University and an M.F.A. in ceramics from JMU. The Miller Gallery is located on the second floor of the Alexander Mack Memorial Library.
