Clifton Forge Artist To Exhibit At Bridgewater College
|
BRIDGEWATER, Va. The paintings and drawings of Clifton Forge, artist Michael Farrar will be on exhibit March 3 – April 12 in the Cleo Driver Miller Art Gallery at Bridgewater College. Farrar will give an artist talk/slide presentation at 4 p.m. Monday, March 3, in the Boitnott Room. An artist reception will follow from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Miller Gallery. The talk, reception and exhibit are open to the public at no charge. The exhibit, "Nurds on Parade," is based on Farrar's observations of people who surround us every day, some more noticeably than others. He records their mannerisms as they search for balance or attempt to participate in "the dance of life." Farrar says he "aims to deflate the pompous, reflect upon life's absurdities or chuckle a way out from under more poignant moments." In 2007, Farrar received the Virginia Frazer Memorial Award for Watercolor and took first place in mixed media at the Fall Foliage Festival in Clifton Forge. He also earned Best in Show at the Lynchburg Art Show. His work was also exhibited in Williamsburg, Richmond and Roanoke and at the Virginia Watercolor Society show. Farrar is a signature member of the Virginia, Pennsylvania and Baltimore watercolor societies. Farrar received a B.S. degree in art education from Concord College in Athens, W.Va. The Miller Gallery is located on the second floor of the Alexander Mack Memorial Library. The Gallery is open 8 a.m. to midnight Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, and 3 to 11 p.m. Sunday.
