Weir Receives Family And Consumer Sciences Award | ||

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Emily Weir was awarded the Outstanding Senior Award from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Bridgewater College during the annual Awards Convocation on April 29. The award is presented to the most outstanding graduating senior in Family and Consumer Sciences. She received a certificate and a monetary award. Weir, a 2004 graduate of Albemarle High School, is the daughter of Susan Weir of Charlottesville, Va. and the late Charles Weir. A family and consumer sciences major with a minor in business administration, Weir is a member of the Family and Consumer Sciences Club and has served as a Student Ambassador and an orientation leader. A four-year member of the cheerleading squad, she served as captain for the past two years. Weir has been active in Relay for Life and, through the College's Service-Learning program, has volunteered many hours in the local schools. During the summer of 2007, she completed an event planning internship with Aramark. After graduating with honors on Sunday, May 11, Weir will work as a contract specialist in procurement with the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. Bridgewater College, a private, four-year liberal arts college, enrolls more than 1,500 students. Founded in 1880 and located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, it was the state's first private, coeducational senior college. | ||
