Bridgewater College Seniors Present Recital

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Three Bridgewater College seniors, Sarah Wick, Cat Yedinak and Josh Randall will present a recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music.

For her soprano voice recital, Wick, a music major, will perform "Ständchen," "Du Bist Die Ruh" and "An Die Musik" by Franz Schubert, "Chanson Triste" by Henri Duparc and "Quando men vo" from La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini. She also will sing "Let the Bright Seraphim" from Samson by George Frideric Handel, "Hello? Oh, Margaret, it's you" from The Telephone by Gian Carlo Menotti and "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" arranged by Margaret Bonds. In addition, She will perform "Le Soir" by Charles Gounod accompanied on the French horn by her father, David Wick, a member of the Virginia Symphony.

Wick, who studies voice at Bridgewater under Dr. Jesse Hopkins, the Edwin L. Turner Distinguished Professor of Music, will be accompanied on piano by Hopkins and Dr. Larry Taylor, assistant professor of music, and by Dr. Timothy Weir, assistant professor of music, on trumpet.

A music major, Wick is the daughter of David and Mary Wick of Virginia Beach, Va. She is a member of the Philomathes Society, Bridgewater's scholastic honor society. She also is a member of the Chorale, the Concert Choir and the Oratorio Choir.

For her saxophone recital, Yedinak will perform "Larghetto" from "Sonatina Op. 100" and "Romantic Piece" by Antonin Dvorák, "Spanish Dance No. 2" by Moritz Moszkowski and Peter Tchaikovsky's "Sleigh Ride."

Yedinak, who studies under David Snively, adjunct instructor of music, will be accompanied on piano by Mary Beth Flory, adjunct instructor of music.

An international studies major with a minor in music, Yedinak is the daughter of Andy and Lyne Yedinak of Olney, Md. At Bridgewater, she is a member of the Symphonic, Jazz and Pep bands. She also serves on the Honor Council and is a member of Amnesty International.

Randall will perform three movements, "Come away, come away, death," "Who is Silvia?" and "It was a lover and his lass" from Let Us Garlands Bring by Gerald Finzi.

A computer science major with a minor in music, Randall is the son of Harold and Pat Randall of Waynesboro, Va. At Bridgewater, he is a member of the Chorale and the Concert Choir.

The recital is free and open to the public.

Bridgewater College, a private, four-year liberal arts college, enrolls more than 1,500 students. Founded in 1880 and located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, it was the state's first private, coeducational senior college.
