Artist Earle Fox to Exhibit Work Nov. 7 - Dec. 16
November 03, 2016
Artist J. Earle Fox will exhibit “Three STEPS, Revisited” Nov. 7 – Dec. 16, in the Cleo Driver Miller Art Gallery at Bridgewater College.
An artist’s reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, with an artist’s talk at 5:30 p.m. Both events will be in the Miller Art Gallery. The talk, reception and exhibition are open to the public at no charge.
The show is a series of photographic triptychs of his elementary arts students taken when he was teaching in Stockton, Calif., many years ago.
Currently living in Maryland, Fox is revisiting this series of portraiture that has been altered in the printing process.
During the first step, the positive image was used as a photo assignment to introduce photography self-portraits to children ages 5-10 years old as part of a summer art program at The Haggin Museum in Stockton.
The second step is centered on the image/negative morphing by applying water.
The third step is to make the image larger, creating a different energy.
The Miller Gallery is located on the second floor of the Alexander Mack Memorial Library. The Gallery is open 8 a.m. to midnight Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 11 p.m. Sunday.
