Bridgewater College Seniors to Present Clarinet Recital on Dec. 3

Music majors Sara Jean Forren and Jessica L. Patton will present a senior recital at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College.

For her clarinet recital, Forren will perform “Prelude,” “Romance,” “Carol” and “Forlana” from Five Bagatelles by Gerald Finzi and Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Leonard Bernstein.

Forren is the daughter of Stephanie Forren of Chesapeake, Va., and Howie Forren of Virginia Beach, Va. Forren is a member of the Symphonic Band, the Jazz Ensemble, the Woodwind Quintet and the Clarinet Ensemble and serves as conductor of the Pep Band. She is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

During the 2017 spring semester, Forren will student teach at Peak View and Linville elementary schools in the Rockingham County Public School System.

For her clarinet recital, Patton will perform Grand Duo Concertante by Carl Maria von Weber and Three Preludes for Clarinet and Piano by George Gershwin.

Patton is the daughter of Dan and Sally Patton of Catlett, Va. She is a member of the Symphonic Band, the Pep Band and the Spirit Club. She serves as treasurer of the campus chapter of the NAfME.

A special feature of the recital will be Forren and Patton performing a duet, Concertpiece No. 2 by Felix Mendelssohn.

Both musicians study clarinet under David Snively, adjunct instructor of music, and will be accompanied on piano by Lacey Johnson, instructor of music.

The recital is free and open to the public.
