Metal Shed CoLab Artists Present Installation in Miller Art Gallery
March 01, 2017
Corinne Diop, Rebecca Silberman and Dymphna de Wild of the Metal Shed CoLab will present an installation, “The Age of Wire and String,” in the Cleo Driver Miller Art Gallery at Bridgewater College March 13 – April 7.
An artists’ reception will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 13, with an artists’ talk at 5:30 p.m. Both events will be in the Miller Art Gallery. The talk, reception and exhibition are open to the public at no charge.
Drawing from images of drift/lapse in language and imagery related to sleep, houses, food, animals, weather and characters, this exhibition collectively references imagery from the book The Age of Wire and String by Ben Marcus.
Diop, Silberman and de Wild teach in the photography department at James Madison University.
As a result of conversations among the three artists, the Metal Shed CoLab was founded as a place where artists and students work together exchanging knowledge, skills, experience, ideas and stories.
The Metal Shed CoLab refers to the metal building where JMU’s photography department is housed.
The Miller Gallery is located on the second floor of the Alexander Mack Memorial Library. The Gallery is open 8 a.m. to midnight Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 11 p.m. Sunday.
