Kevin Selby and Katie Smith to Present Senior Recital April 22

Kevin Selby and Katie Smith will present a senior recital at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College.

For his senior clarinet recital, Selby will perform “Concerto for Clarinet K. 622” by W.A. Mozart, “Three Pieces for Clarinet” by Igor Stravinsky and Andre Messager’s “Solo de Concours.”

Selby, a music major, is the son of Thomas and Melissa Selby of Woodstock, Va.

Selby studies clarinet under David Snively, adjunct instructor of music. He will be accompanied on piano by Dr. Larry Taylor, associate professor of music.

For her senior flute recital, Smith will perform the first two movements of “Sonata in A Minor” by Jean-Baptiste Loeillet and “Standchen” by Franz Schubert. She also will perform the first two movements of “Summer Music” by Richard Rodney Bennett and “Humoresque” by Arno Babadjanyan.

Smith, a health and exercise science major with a minor in music, is the daughter of Jaime Davison of Roanoke, Va., and D. Todd Smith of Fairfield, Va.

Smith studies flute under Elizabeth Brightbill, adjunct instructor of music. She will be accompanied on piano by Lacey Johnson, instructor of music.

Both Selby and Smith are members of the Symphonic Band and the Pep Band.

The recital is free and open to the public.
