Phillip Stone and Matthew Wampler to Present Senior Recital April 29

Phillip Stone and Matthew Wampler will present a senior recital at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College.
For his senior trombone recital, Stone will perform “Trombone Concerto” by Launy Grondahl and “Trombone Concerto” by Derek Bourgeois. He also will perform a trombone duet with Jonathon Wilson, a senior music major from Salem, Va.
Stone, a biology major, is the son of Phil and Kathryn Stone of Linville, Va. He is a member of the Symphonic Band.
Stone studies trombone under Richard Adams, adjunct instructor of music. He will be accompanied on piano by Dr. Larry Taylor, associate professor of music.
For his piano recital, Wampler will perform “Finale” from Sonata 9 by Joseph Haydn, “Prelude 10” from 24 Preludes, Op. 11 by Alexander Scriabin, “La Fille aux cheveux de lin” from Preludes Book 1 by Claude Debussy and “Piano Blues 3” by Aaron Copland. He also will perform “Prelude 5” from 10 Preludes, Op. 23 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, “Chasse-Neige” from Twelve Études d’Exécution Trandscendante by Franz Liszt and “Premiére Ballade” by Frederic Chopin.
Wampler, a physics and mathematics double major with a minor in music, is the son of Drs. G. Ben and Sherrie K. Wampler of Nokesville, Va.
Wampler studies piano under Taylor.
Both Stone and Wampler are members of the Jazz Ensemble, the Chorale and the Concert Choir.
The recital is free and open to the public.
