Bridgewater College Students Receive 2017 Christian Experience Scholarships

Four Bridgewater College students have received the college’s 2017 Summer Christian Experience Scholarship and will spend nine weeks in the summer working at a variety of church-related camps. Each student was awarded $3,000 from the scholarship program, which is funded by the Bridgewater College endowment fund.

Receiving the scholarships are:

Dafne Espinal Pena, a sophomore biochemistry major from Plainsboro, N.J., who will serve at Camp Swatara in Bethel, Pa;

Parker Lindquist, a senior music major and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Linquist of Manassas, Va., who will serve at Brethren Woods Camp in Keezletown, Va.; and 

Mikaela Thomas and Kayla Wilson who will serve at Shepherd’s Spring in Sharpsburg, Md.

Thomas, a sophomore applied chemistry major, is the daughter of Kerwin and Racquel Thomas of Gambrills, Md. Wilson, a freshman psychology major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Wilson of Virginia Beach, Va.

The Summer Christian Experience Scholarship Program, which was created by Bridgewater College to memorialize a number of outstanding church leaders, enables students to gain valuable experience and training in various forms of Christian ministry while providing useful service to church-related camps.
