James Balser to Present Senior Voice Recital on Dec. 2

James Balser will present a senior voice recital at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College.

For his senior baritone voice recital, Balser will perform four pieces, “Simple Gifts,” “At the River,” “The Dodger” and “I Bought Me a Cat” by Aaron Copland, “Bella Porta di Rubini” by Andrea Falconieri, “Au un foco Insolito” by Gaetano Donizetti and W.A. Mozart’s “Der Vogelfänger.”

Balser’s recital also includes three pieces, “Heidenroslein,” “Das Fischermadchen” and “Die Taubenpost” by Franz Schubert, “Olas Gigantes” by Manuel de Falla, “El Trobador” by Edward Kilenyi and “Aurore” by Gabriel Fauré.

Balser, a music major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Duff of Waynesboro, Va. Balser is a member of the Concert Choir and the Chorale. He is a member of National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA). He is a member of Bridgewater’s Teacher Education Program.

Balser studies voice under Shannon Kiser, an adjunct in music at Bridgewater College. He will be accompanied on piano by Lacey Johnson, instructor of music.

The recital is free and open to the public.
