Holiday Extravaganza Set for Dec. 8 and 9

Bridgewater College will present a holiday extravaganza of familiar Christmas carols on Friday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. Both performances will be in the Carter Center for Worship and Music and are free and open to the public.

The extravaganza includes the Symphonic Band and the Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Christine Carrillo, associate professor of music and director of instrumental music.

The Chorale and the Concert Choir will perform under the direction of Dr. John McCarty, assistant professor of music and director of choral music. Lacey Johnson, instructor of music, will accompany the Chorale and the Concert Choir on piano.

The Bridgewater College Handbell Choir will perform at both concerts.

The concert will conclude with the Symphonic Band and mass choirs performing “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” by Sy Miller and Jill Jackson and arranged by Douglas E. Wagner.

Friday’s program will include Chordially Yours, a female a cappella choir, the Gospel Choir, a flute quartet and a saxophone ensemble.

Saturday’s program will include A Cappella Fellas, the Jazz Combo, a tuba quartet and chamber strings.
