BC Presents 2018 English Awards to Four Seniors

The Outstanding Senior Award in English was presented to four English majors – Amelia Bayer, Erica Blubaugh, Stephen Hoyle and Linzi Myers – during the college awards ceremony.
The recipients are selected based on excellence in work performed in the English major.
Bayer is the daughter of Scott and Linda Bayer of Doylestown, Pa. Bayer is a member of the Philomathes Society, Bridgewater’s scholastic honor society, and Alpha Chi, a national scholastic honor society. She is a member of Future Educators of Bridgewater College.
Blubaugh is the daughter of Bernie and Diane Blubaugh of Pasadena, Md. During the summer of 2017, Blubaugh completed an internship with the Smithsonian’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.
Hoyle is the son of John and Catherine Hoyle of Waynesboro, Va. Hoyle is a member of the Philomathes Society and serves as president of the campus chapter of Alpha Chi. He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, and a member of the college’s Flory Honors Program. He has served as a Writing Center tutor. In 2017, Hoyle completed a research project, “Black, White, and Grey: Morality in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Legendarium.”
Myers is the daughter of Charlie and Diane Myers of Durbin, W.Va. Myers is a member of the Brethren Student Movement and Campus Crusade for Christ. She is an eight-time intramural sports champion in ultimate Frisbee, disc golf, billiards and foosball.
Bayer, Blubaugh and Hoyle are all members of Sigma Tau Delta, an international collegiate English honor society.
