Grievance Related to Discrimination
Students who believe they have been subjected to unlawful discrimination or sexual harassment by any member of the campus community should promptly bring this matter to the attention of the College by contacting any member of the persons listed below. If a student wishes to file a formal complaint, the complaint should be submitted in writing in a timely manner, usually within 30 days of the alleged incident. Students should contact any of the following persons:
- The Executive Assistant to the President (Equal Opportunity Officer of the College), or
- Any Vice President, or
- The Director of Athletic Training
Any person so contacted will contact one other person on the list to serve as a committee of two to handle the complaint.
Grievance Not Related to Discrimination
The College recognizes that athletic training student (ATS) problems will occasionally arise. It is usually in the best interest of both the College and the ATS to resolve such problems as soon as possible at the lowest possible administrative level. In order that ATS may be assured fairness in the consideration of such problems, a process of appeal and review, without prejudice, to higher levels of authority has been established. ATS problems or concerns regarding College rules or regulations, terms and conditions of service, working conditions, personnel practices, and the application of policies should be addressed according to the procedures set forth in the Athletic Training Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
All athletic training students must have an entrance physical on file with the Bridgewater College Health Center. Verification of this fact, including current immunizations and physical, emotional, social, and intellectual abilities to perform as an athletic training student, will be done by the Director of Athletic Training during the beginning of each student's pre-placement phase. Not having a valid health form will result in not being able to participate in the athletic training program.
