Alumni and Friends to Celebrate 2012 Homecoming

Bridgewater College invites alumni and friends of the college to celebrate Homecoming activities on Oct. 5 – 7 with the 2012 theme “It’s the Eye of the Eagle, it’s the Thrill of the Fight.”

The college will treat alumni and community members to a wide variety of events during the weekend.

Threads of History: Bridgewater College Clothing through the Years
Friday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 7, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A special collection of freshman beanies, historic sportswear, a vintage theatre costume and other clothing from Bridgewater College’s past will be on exhibit in the Baugher Room in the Alexander Mack Memorial Library.

Friday, Oct. 5

Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament
9 a.m.

Hosted by the BC golf team at Lakeview Golf Course, the shotgun-start tournament includes flights for seniors and regular divisions. Lunch is included.

Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet
6:45 p.m.

Four stellar former athletes will be inducted into the college’s Athletic Hall of Fame –Amy Rafalski Hamilton ’98, of Lebanon, Va.; James Hulvey ’73, of Mt. Sidney, Va.; Andrew Hence ’75, of Fredericksburg, Va.; and Davon Lewis ’98, of Christiansburg, Va.

Saturday, Oct. 6

Homecoming 5K Run/Walk
8 a.m.

Starting and ending at Nininger Hall, the course winds around the Bridgewater community. Pre-registration is recommended. Proceeds benefit the Bridgewater Fund.

Homecoming Festival
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A family-oriented festival on the campus mall will feature live music, food, games, inflatables, BC spirit items and Orbotron ride.

Stone Village Tour
10 to 11 a.m.

Alumni and friends may tour Stone Village, located at East College and College View streets. The modified Victorian-style residences are constructed as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified project.

Wright-Heritage Link Open House
10 a.m. to Noon

The Wright-Heritage east link, which includes the Crimson Café, an outdoor patio and pedestrian plaza, a fitness room, meeting rooms and a recreation room, will be open.  

Women’s Soccer Game
11 a.m.

BC Lady Eagles take on Lynchburg College on the soccer field.

Class Reunion Picnics
11:30 a.m.

Reunion picnics will be held on the campus mall for the classes of 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2012.

Football Game
1 p.m.

The Bridgewater Eagles take on the Hampden-Sydney Tigers on Jopson Field. During halftime, the Hall of Fame inductees will be presented rings and the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.

Concert
7:30 p.m.

The Bridgewater College Chorale and Jazz Ensemble will present a concert in the Carter Center for Worship and Music. The performance is free and open to the public.

Sunday, Oct. 7

Alumni and Students Frisbee Golf Tournament
11 a.m.

An alumni and students Frisbee golf tournament will be held on the BC campus Frisbee golf course.

Men’s Soccer Game
2 p.m.

BC Eagles take on Guilford College on the soccer field.
