Clothing Through BC's History is Theme of Homecoming Exhibition
An exhibition featuring the clothing that Bridgewater College students, faculty and staff have worn through the years will be on display during Bridgewater’s Homecoming activities Oct. 5-7.
“Threads of History: Bridgewater College Clothing Through the Years,” will be open to the public free of charge Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The exhibition will be in the J.I. Baugher Room on the ground floor of the Alexander Mack Library.
Some of the artifacts featured in the exhibition are a collection of Bridgewater College freshman beanies from the 1950s-1970s; a monogrammed sweater worn by 1930 alumnus Charles Oren Miller; a handkerchief, delicately embroidered in 1907 by student Lottie Miller Kline; and Asian scarves from the Victorian era that were collected by the S.N. McCann family.
Other artifacts include an 1889 autograph album, the hat worn by Maurine G. Geisert during the BC presidential inauguration of her husband, Wayne F. Geisert, on April 3, 1965, and other items from the Reuel B. Pritchett Museum Collection. A selection of photographs reproduced from Bridgewater College Special Collections also will be on display.
