BC Alumna Nicole Yurcaba to Read Poetry Feb. 23

Nicole Yurcaba, a 2009 Bridgewater College graduate, will present a poetry reading at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College.

A Pennsylvania native, Yurcaba was raised in the Ukrainian culture. Her poetry brings together elements from both cultures – Appalachian and Ukrainian.

As an English major at Bridgewater College, Yurcaba refined her writing skills and developed a passion for poetry.

Yurcaba’s poetry, short stories and photography have been featured in vox poetica, Ascent Aspirations Magazine, Hobo Camp Review, Floyd County Moonshine, The Bluestone Review, Atlanta Review and Young Ravens Literary Review.

Yurcaba’s first poetry collection, Backwoods and Back Words, was published in 2013 by Unbound Content. She is working on  a second collection, Ukrainian Daze.

She earned a master’s in humanities, English program from Tiffin University.

The event is free and open to the public.
