Dr. Christine Carrillo, assistant professor of music at Bridgewater College, will present a trumpet recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 12, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music on the college campus.
Carrillo will perform Fantaisie Brillante by Jean-Baptiste Arban and 4 Miniatures by Joseph Turrin.
Joining Carrillo for the recital is SSgt. Michael Mannella, a trombonist with the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band.
Mannella will present The Girl with the Flaxen Hair by Claude Debussy and Ballade by Eugene Bozza.
Carrillo and Mannella will perform Pastorale for Trumpet, Trombone and Piano by Eric Ewazen and Five Dialogues for Trumpet and Trombone by David Borden.
Dr. Larry Taylor, associate professor of music at Bridgewater College, will provide piano accompaniment.
Carrillo, assistant professor of music, earned a D.M.A. from the University of Texas-Austin. She previously served on the faculties of James Madison University; Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she was a two-time recipient of the chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Award; The Victoria College and the Austin Independent School District. As a Conn-Selmer Trumpet artist, Carrillo has given performances at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the City Recital Hall Angel Place in Sydney, Australia.
Mannella has served as principal trombonist with the United States Air Force Band of Liberty in Lexington, Mass., the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band in Ramstein, Germany and currently, with the Heritage of America Band in Hampton, Va.
Mannella is acting music director and solo trombonist with the USAF Heritage Brass.
The event is free and open to the public.
